Hair loss is common, from 50 to 100 a day, according to Dermatologists (AAD). More than this may mean that you are losing more than you should, contributing to the general thinning of the hair.


Hair loss does not necessarily cause baldness. However, it does give the appearance of sparser patches of hair on your head.


Hair loss usually occurs gradually, which means you have time to identify the causes and figure out the best treatment measure.


It's also important to know that there's a difference between hair loss and breakage: in hair loss, the focus of treatment should be on the scalp, while in breakage, the hair is damaged and needs care.


Treatments and home remedies


Some cases of hair loss can be treated at home. Teas, tonics, oils, herbs, a whole host of recipes can help you, here are a few.


1. scalp massage


A simple massage, which is cheap and accessible, helps to improve blood circulation there and the delivery of nutrients by the body itself. The problem is that if your body is deficient in vitamins or nutrients, it may not help much. It costs nothing and, if done correctly, is not harmful.


When washing your hair, gently apply pressure with your fingertips around the scalp to stimulate blood flow. For even more benefits, you can try a brush with soft bristles and brush or scalp, which also removes dead skin cells.


2. Lavender oil


Lavender oil has been used successfully by some people with baldness. It is also supported by research and 2016, although human studies are needed to confirm its effects. Lavender is often combined with other oils, such as those made from rosemary and thyme.


How to use:


5 ml of pure vegetable oil of your choice (e.g. jojoba, coconut, olive oil) ;


3 drops of essential oil of your choice (e.g. rosemary);


3 drops of essential oil of your choice (e.g. lavender).


With dry hair, apply the mixture to the scalp and spread it over the hair.


Massage gently in a circular motion. Leave on for at least 20 minutes. Then remove with shampoo.


3. Multivitamins


Multivitamins can help treat hair loss caused by nutritional deficiencies and are available without a prescription.


But don't overdo it. Too many nutrients can be harmful.


Healthy hair depends on your general good health. In cases of malnutrition, or with certain eating disorders, new hair may not be generated from the follicles. A blood test can help determine whether you have a nutrient deficiency.


If you are deficient in several key areas, your doctor may recommend a daily multivitamin. Healthy hair needs iron, folic acid and zinc to keep growing thick and strong. Look for daily supplements for men and women that meet these criteria.


4. Clove oil


A 10% concentration of Eugenol has been found to have certain antifungal properties. An antifungal would be beneficial for hair health, as it could fight inflammation that would otherwise destroy hair follicles.


Dilute your pure clove oil by mixing it with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or pure olive oil.


Mix 5-6 drops with 50ml of a carrier oil of your choice.


Gently massage into the scalp and hair with your fingertips and leave on overnight.


Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse in the morning with lukewarm water until all the oil is removed from your hair. Do this twice a week for best results.




5. Coffee for hair loss


Always wait until the coffee has cooled completely before you start using it to avoid burning your scalp, never apply hot coffee to your hair.


Remember that if you have light hair, coffee can stain or dye your hair. And don't apply it to your hair, coffee can dry it out.


To take advantage of the benefits of coffee with light hair, use green coffee oil or Green Tea


Apply cold coffee with a cotton swab all over your scalp, especially where you have ingrowns or blemishes. Don't worry about soaking it in, the amount needed is very little, as the caffeine is going directly where it's needed.


Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off as normal


6. Aloe Vera


It can reduce dandruff and unclog hair follicles that may be blocked by excess oil.


How to use


Apply pure Aloe Vera gel to the scalp and hair a few times a week, leave on for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly.


You can also use conditioners containing Aloe Vera.



7. Pumpkin seed oil


The pumpkin seed, also known as moranga or jerimum, has bioactive principles that bring various health benefits, and it is from these that the oil is extracted that can help your hair grow and stop falling out.


Check that the oil is 100% natural, preferably edible.


You can apply it to your scalp 20 minutes before washing your hair, as you usually wash your hair.



8. Fenugreek


According to research, fenugreek seed extract improved hair volume and thickness in men and women with moderate hair loss.

Fenugreek seeds, 20 g


hot water, 250 ml


Place the seeds in a bowl and pour in hot, but not boiling, water.


Leave to soak for a whole night, then transfer to a saucepan and turn on the gas at low heat. Cover with a lid and bring to the boil.


Cook for about half an hour, the liquid should thicken into a yellowish jelly thanks to the opening of the seeds.


Turn it off and wait for it to cool, then use an immersion blender to blend the seeds that haven't opened for a few minutes and filter everything.


Bring to the boil for another 5 minutes then, using a fine mesh sieve, pour into a clean container. Apply to the scalp and leave on for at least 20 minutes. Cover with a plastic cap so the product doesn't dry out, then wash as normal



Caution


Every product, even natural ones, you should make sure you are not allergic to. Test a small amount of the product on your arm and wait 24 hours to see if any reaction develops. Redness or other irritation, hives or a rash may indicate an allergic reaction.
